re: meditations (saxophone ensemble)

$25.00

Remediations was composed for a youth ensemble, with the intention of introducing them to Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening Practice, as well as the meditation-based performance practices of Terry Riley, Dickie Landry, Pharaoh Sanders, and (late) John Coltrane. My hope is that this may open their mind to the possibilities of their instrument–and music at large–in a way that the common classical and jazz music curriculums might not. I believe that if I had been introduced to these musics at an earlier age, it may have had a tremendous impact on my own performance practice.

re: meditations is an expansion upon Remediations for more advanced ensembles. This new adaptation was created for my album The Organ That Breathes.
